Georgian Country Cottage Has 21st Century Eco Makeover
Eco2Solar the midlands based renewable energy company installed an Ecotube system at this beautiful cottage near Worcester with views of the Malvern Hills in August 2007. The system is working well with a “combi-boiler” and an unvented mains pressure cylinder.
The customer, Stephen Seymour a keen environmentalist who also wanted to save some pennies also had a wind turbine installed on his cottage. He was very clear about the benefits of renewable energy and said; “the solar heating system is producing excellent savings, so much so that we were achieving 50o C in our cylinder in February without needing the oil fired boiler”.
Although simple in principle, the system installed at Rose Cottage is quite sophisticated. The combi-boiler has been converted to a system boiler so that it can top up the heat provided by the solar energy to ensure that the cottage has hot water all year round. Stephen adds “we thought it would be complicated to have our own solar panel. It wasn’t and we’re very happy with it. It’s generating most of our hot water now”
