No Mo May 2022!
Lock your lawnmower in the shed for a few weeks and take part in Plantlife’s ‘No Mow May’.
Since the 1930’s approximately 7 million acres of flower full meadows and pastures have been lost. This has had a knock on effect resulting in fewer insect-eating birds and pollinators.
How can we help? Do nothing in May!
First launched in 2019 by the botanical charity Plantlife, No May May encourages gardeners to let wild flowers bloom and provide a great nectar feast for bees, butterflies and moths and beetles.
In the last 3 years the number of people taking part in this campaign has trebled!
You can also register to take part in Plantlife’s Every Flower Counts (EFC)citizen science survey. This entails counting the number of flowers within a square metre patch of lawn and then Plantlife measures the amount of nectar being produced. You’ll then be given a Personal Nectar Score!
