Sunbathing to Save the Planet

This months My Alter-Eco features another feat of ingenuity in the world of sustainability. The newly invented solar powered bra made by underwear company Triumph enables the wearer to charge small items like mobile phones and ipods. It’s eco functions also include a water pouch so that the wearer can remain hydrated without resorting to using plastic water bottles.

The bra was invented in Japan and is made from organic cotton although it will not be hitting the shops for some time yet as if the bra gets wet in the rain it stops working. Wearing clothes over the bra also renders it useless. So while this may be ideal for glamorous celebrities wanting to show off their green credentials on the beaches of California, we think it’s probably not suited to the British climate at this point in time.
