U.K Aware:Creating A Buzz In The World Of Green
We had a great time at the second U.K Aware show this weekend. The event held at Olympia was bigger and better than last year and attracted over 7,000 visitors and 100 exhibitors. The atmosphere was fantastic and there was a feeling of great optimism about the future of the planet and the green sector.
Exhibitors included big environmental charities such as Greenpeace and the R.S.P.B aswell as smaller companies like ourselves and those in the green marketplace.
We had a great pitch as we were next to the clothes swap area organised by ethical stylist Lupe Castro and Daisy Green Magazine. I came away with some lovely clothes and became an ardent fan of swishing overnight. The swishing party was extremely busy and chaotic but it was lovely to see so many clothes recycled in just a few hours.
Our Eco Tombola paid a return visit to the show with over 200 visitors joining in the fun and winning fabulous prizes such as colourful carry eco bags, ecosac compost caddies, gorgeous green fibre T-shirts, onya bags, wonderful wrapsacks and comp-bio products. Not forgetting our star prize of the BBC book ‘Nature’s Great Events’ which was won by a loyal newsletter subscriber, hurray!
We also had our fair share of eco questions and queries at the event so for the rest of the week we will be answering those questions in our ‘If It’s Green We’ll Find It’ section of our blog. The first installment tackles finding organic material by the metre.
A big congratulations go to Danny, Jodie and the rest of the U.K Aware team. We’ll see you again next year!
